In an effort to secure the future of the young generations through qualitative education, the executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has presented free West African Examinations Council (WAEC), General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to 400 indigent students within the council jurisdiction.
The executive chairman while presenting the forms to the students on Friday at the marriage registry within the council secretariat, urged them to make the council proud by passing the examination in flying colours.
Oloyede said doling the forms to students is a resolved of his administration to improve standard of education in his local government.
He assured them of his administration continued support for education within the council and indigent students in the pursuit of their education.
He said; “it is part of our education support which aims at improving literacy in Oshodi and meeting the needs of students who are willing to learn but whose parents cannot afford to buy the forms for them.
Our objective is to bring governance much closer to the grassroots and addressing some of the economic challenges facing our people with a resolve to finding solutions.”
Speaking further, the council chairman said his administration will not stop at given GCE forms to students, as he would do more in providing environmental friendly learning condition for the students.
“Our administration will also provide other free educational support for indigent students to aid their learning ability and will also ensure a learning environment that is conducive and friendly for our pupils.”
Imploring the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the free GCE forms, Otunba Oloyede said; “I implore all the beneficiaries of today’s programme to encourage us to do more, by preparing well, studying hard to justify this opportunity given to you and the fund spent to procuring these forms by coming out in flying colours.”
One of the beneficiaries, Olusola Joseph Temitope profusely thanked the council chairman for the opportunity given to further his studies as he assured of coming out with good result.
He said; “I thank the chairman for this free GCE form, it will go a long way in the pursuit of my academic journey. I will work harder to make sure I pass my examination with good grades.”
