The minister of education, Adamu Adamu has presented an appointment letter to Dr. Abdul Adedotun Ibrahim confirming his appointment as rector, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Yaba Lagos.
The official presentation was held on Monday, May 22, in Abuja. The Chairman, Council of the College, Barrister Lateef Fagbemi, SAN also graced the historical occasion.
It was gathered that the Fagbemi (SAN) took time away from the election tribunal, also in the FCT, to be part of the historical occasion.
It was also gathered that Dr. Abdul is the first Muslim Rector of the institution since its establishment in 1947.
The new rector will be taking over from Dr. Uduak Inyang-Udoh, who was appointed in January 30, 2023 as acting Rector of the college, after the expiration of the tenure of the immediate former Rector, Engr. Obafemi Owoseni Omokungbe on January 29, 2023.
Dr. Abdul, until his appointment was the Director Centre for Open Distance and Flexible e-Learning, Yaba College of Technology.
He joined the College in 1993 as lecturer II and rose to be Chief Lecturer.
Born in Lagos in 1965, Dr. Ibraheem holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos.
He bagged another Master of Science in Industrial & Production Engineering from University of Ibadan. He proceeded to Okayama University, Japan for his Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) between 2008 and 2011.
