The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has confirmed that it will present certificates of return to elected chairmen and councillors across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), of the state on Wednesday,16 July, 2025, reports thegazellenews.com
Among the Chairmen-elect expected to receive their certificates of return are: Otunba Kehinde Almaroof-Oloyede, Oshodi-Isolo local government; Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, Alimoso Local Government; Jimoh Olawale Saliu, popularly called ‘Alfa’, Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area; Akeem ‘Lagbaja’ Dauda, Ikeja Local Government; Usman Akanbi Hamzat, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government; and Oluseye Jakande, Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area.
Chairman of LASIEC, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), who confirmed the development in a telephone conversation, explained that the ceremony was initially scheduled for Tuesday, 15 July, 2025 but had to be postponed due to the declaration of a public holiday by the Federal Government.
“It was supposed to hold on Tuesday,” she said, adding, “but due to the public holiday on that day, it has been moved to the next working day, which is Wednesday.”
