Smiles and excitement pervaded the air on Tuesday as over 200 residents of Apapa Local Government area of Lagos graduated from the LG’s skills acquisition center.
The graduates were empowered with startup kits, equipments, and cash by the Council Chairman Hon Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo.
The graduation ceremony which took place at the Council Secretariat, Apapa was attended by the creme-de-la-creme of Apapa politics, who gathered to celebrate and felicitate with the graduating students.
The LG boss congratulated the graduates for their commitment and perseverance in the acquisition of the skills and admonished them to put to use immediately the skills they have acquired.
Sebanjo said there is no better time for them to appreciate what they have learnt than now stressing that the challenges that follow the removal of fuel subsidy will enable everyone to look inward and develop their inherent gift.
She wished them success in their chosen vocation and reminded them that they possess unique gifts that can only be discovered by being resolute, dogged, and determined.
The council honcho charged them not to limit themselves to what they have learnt but to make use of the internet by enrolling in courses that will improve and develop them to be a sought-after entrepreneur.
The Council mayor commended the Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Department for their consistent sustenance of one of her electioneering promises to the people of Apapa LG while she appreciated the management of NIMASA who have decided to re-construct the LG’s Vocational Center and equip it with modern-day equipments.
In the same vein, she also appreciated the outgone lawmaker representing Apapa Federal Constituency at the lower chamber in Abuja, Hon Mufutau Egberongbe for facilitating the construction of Apapa Youth Center at Ladylak Primary School Apapa.
A former LGA Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Fatai Sanni in his goodwill message advised the graduates to be up and doing and make judicious use of the working tools given to them such that they too can be employers of labour.
Miss Miracle Peters on behalf of other graduates appreciated the council chairman and her team for the privilege given to them and also gave kudos to their instructors for the knowledge impacted and promised to be good ambassadors of the local government.
The graduates could not hold their joy as the Council Chairman presented them with equipments ranging from sewing machines, laptops, make-up kits, starter pack, and lots more based on their chosen vocation and cash reward.
The event was witnessed by APC party leaders, legislative members, CDC chairman, exco members, management team, and family and friends of the graduates
