… As Adigun wins Lagos NYCN election

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Hon Mobolaji Ogunlende has commended the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State chapter for conducting a free, fair and credible election that saw to the emergence of Comrade Ibrahim Olalekan Adigun as winner of the contest.
Ogunlende who spoke at 2024 election Congress of the youth body in Ikosi-Isheri said the conduct of the election shows that the youth are committed to forming a formidable front and committed future leaders.
He said; “I am happy for this election, I must commend the youths for organising themselves to have a free, fair and credible election as this.
“All eyes are on the youths, they must be of good character, accountable, transparent and professional in all they do. Let’s embrace the virtues of righteousness so that we will be proud of our youths.”
The commissioner also commended the outgone state executive led by Biliamin Olalekan popularly called Oba for leading a formidable youth Council in the state.
He tasked the incoming executive to raise the bar beyond where the former left it. He promised the executives of his ministry continued support for them.
He said; “Let me reiterate the commitment of the ministry of youth and social development to the youth Council l; we are partners in progress l, and the success of the council is one of our statutory responsibilities.”
Ogunlende said the THEMES+ agenda of the State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu is aimed at including the youths in the running of the affairs of state saying, the ministry is organising a skill up training for youths in the state. He urged them to key into this.
Speaking after being declared winner of the election, Commerade Adigun thanked the youths for the imposed trust and confidence on him assuring them of inclusion in decision making and lending their voices.
Adigun said he will work along with the state government with the THEMES+ agenda to make available for youths, jobs, entrepreneurship opportunities and among others.
The state chairman said following his campaign 3 point agenda he will work relentlessly to ensure all youths voices dicenting of otherwise are heard loud and clear and would be involved in the decision making process.
Adigun said his administration will embark on tech-driven skills to get the youths off the street and make them have the opportunity to earn a living.
An elated Adigun appreciated God and those who worked for his emergence as the chairman of the youth body in Lagos promising not to let them down.
He said; “I am delighted as you can see this has never happen before in the history of the youth Council that we will have a seamless transition, I appreciate the state governor, his deputy, commissioner for youths and all that have supported us to make sure this year elective Congress come to success. We are going to ensure that the Lagos State youth Council chapter becomes the envy of all state chapters in the country.”
“As contained in our P3 agenda- Professionalism,Productivity and Publicity for meaningful engagement with the Lagos youths, we are going to embark on a radical change and make sure that Lagos youths are usefully engaged, because we believe and know that when the youths are engaged Lagos will be safer and prosperous.”
“We are going to engage in capacity building development programmes for young people on Lagos State. We will also be involved in programmes that will lead to transformational change in terms of drug prevention and rejection in Lagos State, we are going to focus on ICT because we believe one of the foremost industries that employs young people is technology. We are going to deplore heavily our resource on ICT.”
