Muslim faithful in Lagos State has been called upon to come together as one indivisible family and embrace the spirit of unity, compassion, and generosity.
This statement was made by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola after the Eid prayer held at Dodan Barracks, Obalende Lagos.
Muri-Okunola maintained that, everyone should reflect on the values of faith, devotion, and selfless service which the celebration teaches us.
He said: “Eid-El-Kabri, also known as Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice, holds great significance in Islam, just as it commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God”.
“This is a time to remember those less priviledges and extend our helping hands to those in need.”
Muri-Okunola stressed further that it is through acts of charity and kindness, that the blessings bestowed Allah can be attained and a positive impact on the lives of others.
He thereby charged all the muslim faithful to celebrate the diversity that enriches our world and stand together against discrimination, prejudice, and injustice.
He added that we should all be grateful for the blessings we have been granted and remember those who are facing hardship or experiencing difficulties.
“As we gather with our families and friends to share meals, exchange gifts, and offer prayers, let us also reflect on the values of sacrifice and gratitude to Allah for His bounties on us.”
The head of service prayed that the almighty Allah grant everyone sound health, happiness, and prosperity, adding that everybody’s heart be filled with joy, and their homes be adorned with love and laughter.
