The federal government has set 18 years as minimum age limit for admission into higher institutions in Nigeria, education minister, Tahir Mamman, has said.
Mamman spoke on Wednesday during the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) 2024 policy meeting.
His pronouncement was however greeted at the meeting with rejections by some stakeholders, but the minister said the decision is already a “policy” the federal government has keyed into.
Mamman said candidates are expected to be more mature at 18 years old.
He said aggrieved parties can approach the national assembly to amend the policy.
