Sunday 1st October will not be forgotten in a hurry as the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lagos West, held its maiden awards tagged the Plaudits to honour and appreciate personalities contributions to human and youths development in their various domains.
It was a fun filled event as members of the Lagos state chapter of the NYCN from Lagos West thronged the Oranmiyan Hall of the Airport Hotel, venue of the event to honour those who have shown exemplary leadership at all levels of human endeavour.
The atmosphere was serene with convivial and hearty welcome from the bevy of ladies who ushered in the guests to their various allotted seats.
Leading the pack of awardees was the senator representing Lagos West at the Senate, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule who was represented by the former Special Adviser to Lagos State governor on Housing, Mrs. Aramide Giwanson, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende receive the award of the ‘Outstanding Youth Development Initiator” respectively .
Other dignitaries who received awards at event were the chairman of Alimosho LGA, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, the chairman of Oriade LCDA, Hon. Ramotalai Olanrewaju Hassan, Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Ajala, Dr. Ibikunle Ganiyu, High Chief Odunuga Kayode, Comrade Olalekan James, Comrade Yusuf Kelani, Comrade Odulana Ismail, Comrade Ola James Fetuga, Comrade Taofeeq Gbadebo and Deacon Sanya among others.
Speaking on the sideline of the event, Ogunlende appealed to the youths to be focused and determined in their drive towards greatness.
In his keynote address, Barr Azeez Alatoye encouraged youths to believe in the greatness of the country and work in unity for its greater development.
Alatoye urged the youths to shun to the ‘japa’ syndrome where everyone is seeking greener pastures overseas saying Nigeria is a fertile ground for all youths to tap from.
