Just-In: Supreme Court Upholds Tinubu’s Victory

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Labour Pary (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi and upheld the election victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Justice Inyang Okoro while reading the lead judgment, ruled against the appellants on all issues raised and declared their petitions as lacking merit.

The Apex court dismissed all the issues raised by Aitku and PDP while upholding the ruling of the Appeal Court which confirmed the election of President Tinubu.

“On the whole, having resolved all the issues against the appellant, it is my view that there is no merit in the appeal and it is hereby dismissed,” Justice Inyang Okoro said.

“The judgment of the court below delivered on September 6th, 2023 affirming the election of the second respondent as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is hereby affirmed.”
