As the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, begins its continuous voters registration exercise, the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has called on residents of his local government to turn out en masse to get registered for them to get their permanent voters card, PVC.
The Lagos council boss made this call on Tuesday as he joined his colleagues from Isolo and Ejigbo Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) at the stakeholders forum organized by the electoral umpire on the forthcoming Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) to sensitise residents on the need to get register.
Speaking with the media after the stakeholders meeting at the Oshodi-Isolo local government INEC office, Otunba Almaroof-Oloyede who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon Leke Banjoko, commended the commission for the stakeholders meeting and assured that the local government will continue to render any assistance needed to ensure that the exercise is successful.
He also admonished those who have clocked 18 years of age since the last registration to avail themselves the opportunity presented by the CVR that has commenced online with physical registration on Monday, 25th August 2025.
He also urged those who have relocated from their former abodes to make use of the opportunity.
Those who lost their former cards too are to be attended to and urged all to be at the INEC office to ensure they are registered to be qualified to vote in 2027 general elections.
He said; “I must commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for this wonderful engagement with relevant stakeholders. I am happy with the turnout, especially the presence of my colleagues from Isolo and Ejigbo”.
“Let me use this opportunity to advise our people to avail themselves with the opportunity of the continuous Voters Registration (CVR) by ensuring those who have clocked 18 years since the last registration in 2022 registration to get registered. Those who have changed residences too should equally go and do the needful”.
“More importantly, I want to appeal to our people to be orderly and cooperate with the INEC officials to ensure we have successful CVR. We should discourage multiple registration of voters. I urge INEC officials not to compromise the process, but follow the due process of the registration, so that adequate number of eligible voters will be captured within the period of the exercise,” he concluded.
