Lagos lawmakers endorse Oshodi-Isolo LG Chairman, Oloyede for second term

… Say council chairman has performed excellently on infrastructural development

The state’s assembly committee chairman on local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Ganiu Sanni Okanlawon stated this on Friday as the committee visited the council chairman on an oversight function to the local government.

Hon. Okanlawon said the council chairman who had constructed 43 roads with 25 pipe borehole water dug, spread across the wards of the local government, deserves an incontestable second term ticket.

The committee chairman said they were in the local government to perform one of their statutory oversight functions.

The committee chairman, after being presented with overwhelming projects, stated that Otunba Oloyede deserves a pat on the back for the massive projects executed in the local government.

He commended the chairman for his ingenuity in partnering relevant stakeholders in training of youths on different skills and empowerment programmes, saying the council chairman has added value to governance at the grassroot.

He said; “I want to say well done to you. You have really added value to governance, I don’t praise people but with what you have done, you have done exceedingly well.

“We have seen value additions, we can see a thinker, an idealist who has brought new idea into governance. You deserve a pat on the back.”

Commenting on the school bus and capital development training for youth, Hon. Okanlawon said, it is landmark achievement because the free transportation will save the parents daily transportation cost.

“I love the idea of the school bus, you have settled the cost of transportation on the part of the parents with the free school bus, the human capital development is also a lauded project. You have think out of the box to partner private organisations to train youths on different organisations, of all the local government and local council development areas visited, you are the only one who partners with the private sector to held human capacity building trainings.”

The lawmaker said with the massive projects done, the council chairman deserves a meritorious second term ticket.

He said; “No matter whose oars is goose, you deserve a second term ticket. You have performed exceedingly well. For more iconic projects and continuation of good governance, leaders of Oshodi should give him free ride for second term.”

The lawmaker said the council should do more on sports and tourism development to harness the power of the youth and showcase the historical heritage and sites in Oshodi.

“I want you to do more on tourism and sports development, the supervisor for youths and sports development should help him in this regard. We want you to harness the young to develop their talents in sports. This will help to stop youth restiveness,” he said.

Recall that the state assembly led by Hon Mudathir Obasa had asked its House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs to carry out oversight functions on all local government and local council development areas in the state.

Earlier, the council Chairman welcomed the assembly members to the council areas and assured that with the infrastructure strides of his administration, he has changed the trajectory of the local government in terms of infrastructural development promising he would do more.

Otunba Oloyede highlighted several projects which cut across all the strata vis a vis road, health, environment, empowerment, Agric and education.

He inundated the committee of his administration’s plan to construct an iconic health center in the local government which will serve the people of the council area.

He assured that the project will commence in a number of weeks time with a promise to be completed before the end of his first term in office.

Otunba Oloyede further informed that the reconstruction of the St. Paul Primary school in Mafoluku is a commitment of his administration to give education required priority attention

The Council Boss reeled out several projects and programs that his administration has accomplished in the three and half years in the saddle and assured that others will be completed on time

The Council Chairman reported that his interventions cut across different sectors of the economy vis a vis health, environment, education, road construction, empowerment and training.

He assured that his administration is focused on giving more dividends of democracy to the people of Oshodi-Isolo local government.

A member of the committee representing Oshodi-Isolo constituency 1, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, thanked the council chairman for not bringing the people down, while commending his efforts.

He said; “this is Oshodi and we are one family, to the best of his ability, he is doing very well, he should keep it up, I can assure you that your second term ticket is already sealed.”

Another member of the committee, Hon. Jibril Kareem also commended the council chairman for his giant strides.

“You have seen, you have conquered, we have been to different local governments, the type of atmosphere we met in Oshodi is outstanding, it is convivial, please keep this up.”

Earlier, members of the community development association, artisans, religious leaders have commended the council chairman for his giant strides.

The CDC chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Ajibulu said the council chairman, Otunba Oloyede is an exceptional council chairman who has beat the imagination of the residents with his unprecedented infrastructural development projects drive in the council.
