The Lagos State government has welcomed pilgrims from Saudi Arabia after a successful 2025 Hajj exercise.
The first batch of 423 Lagos pilgrims, comprising 179 males and 244 females, touched ground at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday with a rousing welcome.
The returning pilgrims were led by Dr. Ahmad Abdullahi Jebe, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Islamic Matters.
Dr. Jebe expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the pilgrims’ safety and protection throughout their journey, particularly during the challenging rituals at Mina and Arafah. He commended the pilgrims for their peaceful conduct, describing them as good ambassadors of the state.
The Lagos State Government, Dr Jebe said played a significant role in ensuring the pilgrims’ successful journey.
He appreciated Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for their support, which contributed to the operation’s success.
The Secretary of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, announced that the state is fully prepared for the home-bound journey. He assured that all pilgrims would be airlifted back home in line with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s schedule.
Ajomagberin advised pilgrims yet to return to exercise patience and follow instructions regarding luggage as he said the state will be providing the pilgrims with 32kg Hand luggage: 8kg Excess luggage: to be taken to private cargo operators,-
Zam Zam water: 5kg will be provided to each pilgrim on arrival.
The Lagos State Government is working to ensure a smooth and successful return of all pilgrims. With the first batch safely back home, the government is optimistic that all pilgrims will return before the week ends.
