… Council Chairman , Otunba Oloyede Receives Winners, promises more support for education
Oshodi-Isolo local government shines again at the annual National Junior Engineering and Technological Sciences (JETS) competition in Abuja as it emerged winners in the 27th edition of the competition.
The duo of masters Oyebamiji Emmanuel from Monsuru Agoro Memorial Primary School and Alarape Abdurrahman from Oladele Alake Primary School, represented Lagos and came out top, clinching First position in the 2024 edition of the national JETS competition.
Also in another competition, national sports competition in Abuja, Master Taiwo Toluwalase from Olokun Primary School won a bronze medal in the 200m relay race.
The pupils who made the local government proud were presented before the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede on Wednesday by the Education Secretary of the Oshodi-Isolo LGEA, Hon Mayowa Alakija.
While presenting the pupils with their medals and trophies to the chairman, Hon Alakija disclosed that the feat is a testament to the efforts of the chairman towards education in the council area.
He noted that this will be the second time pupils from the local government will be representing Lagos State and coming out top at the national competition.
The pupils of the local government designed and presented at the competition an innovative Automatic Anti-fire System that detects smoke, gas, fire and can alert individuals for immediate safety actions.
In designing the machine, the pupils used materials such as Infrared (IR) sensor, Mq2 gas sensor, 5V battery, relay module, BD140 transistor, 1k resistor, buzzer, Led light, etc.
The elated Chairman , who warmly welcomed the pupils, their teachers and parents, stated that the efforts and support of the administration towards the education sector is bearing positive results.
He congratulated the pupils, schools and parents, while urging the pupils to put in more effort in their studies. He noted that such good news is in tandem with the drive of his administration towards changing the narrative of governance within the local government.
He appreciated the parents and teachers for bringing up the pupils in the right way.
To support the pupils, invest in science projects and promote sporting activities in the schools, he donated a million naira, while promising that the government will continue prioritizing education.
He said; “I want to congratulate you on this feat, this is the second time we are winning the national JETS competition at the national level, this shows that our investment in the education sector is yielding the desired results. We will not relent in our efforts to revamp the education sector, we will do more to ensure that our pupils in all schools get the desired attention and support in their academic pursuits.”
