Oshodi Pedestrian Bridge: Council Chairman, Oloyede, Calls for Calm, Commends State Government for Swift Response

In a statement issued by his media office on Sunday, Oloyede confirmed that immediate steps were taken to address the situation by contacting the appropriate Lagos State ministry. He disclosed that, in response to his intervention, the Lagos State Government has ordered the closure of the bridge to facilitate a detailed investigation into the integrity of the bridge and also to prevent any potential danger.

The chairman urged residents to comply with the temporary closure order and avoid using the bridge to allow experts deployed by the state government to conduct a thorough assessment of its condition.

He said; “Following the safety concerns raised by users of the Oshodi pedestrian bridge, I am pleased to inform our people that the state government has ordered its closure for investigation and repairs”.

“I commend the Lagos State Government for their swift response and for deploying experts to assess the situation. I also appreciate the vigilance of users who brought this matter to public attention.”

“The ruling APC in Lagos is fully committed to ensuring public safety, and as a grassroots government, we shall support the ongoing efforts towards resolving the issue.”
