The People First Initiative (PFI) in conjunction with the Academic Excellence Initiative (AEI) Oshodi Unit has presented free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB’s) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to students in Oshodi.
The students who were carefully selected after a rigorous screening exercise by the two Nongovernmental Organisations (NGOs) were presented the free forms on Sunday.
Excitement and joy pervaded the students faces when they were been called one after the other for the free forms.
Speaking on behalf of the PFI, its Executive Director, Mr Amidu Arije said the giving of the free UTME forms is part of its cardinal objectives of ensuring that no child is left out in acquiring education.
Mr Arije said among other numerous humanitarian programmes of the PFI, the free forms distribution is part of its determination at empowering the youths to acquire education.
Aside the free forms presentation, Mr Arije said the PFI and AEI will offer the students technical support in their preparations towards the examination through regular Computer Based Test (CBT) training and practice.
Also speaking on behalf of the AEI Oshodi unit, its Secretary, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim said the organisation goes in partnership with PFI because of their cardinal objectives of giving scholarship to students to enable them attain education.
Mr Ibrahim said the AEI is offering free tutorials for the students in their preparations towards the examination.
One of the beneficiaries of the free UTME forms, Emmanuel Akanbi thanked the PFI and AEI for their benevolence saying it was a great relieve for him as he has to fend for himself and still have to get money to pay for his form but said with the free form, his worries are over.
“I am delighted for this form, I have been thinking of how to purchase the UTME form, which has been a challenge for me because I have to struggle to work for the money to get it, but when the link to register for the free form came, I just applied not knowing I will be getting it, I thank them their benevolence, may God bless them, this form is a great relieve for me.”
