The People First Initiative (PFI), a non governmental organisation, has perfected plans to train youths and residents of Oshodi-Isolo local government on different skill acquisition programme.
The skill acquisition and empowerement training programme which is in partnership with the Oshodi-Isolo local government UNDP office is aimed at empowering youths within the community to be self depent, reliant and sustenance.
The two weeks training programme is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 1st till 11th August, 2023 at the Oshodi-Isolo local government secretariat.
The skills acquisition training programme will cover three major areas viz; House painting and production, Bag making and Photography.
According to the Projects Director of PFI, Miss Suliyat Olagunju the training will help to eliminate unemployment in the society and will further equip youths to become self reliant.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of PFI, Mr Amidu Arije said the training is a key programme of the NGO that aims at empowering the people to become self reliant and dependent.
Mr Arije stated further that the training will help to curb societal unrest as the youths will be engaged meaningfully which will invariably put food on their table if they utilise the opportunities in the training programme.
Speaking on behalf of the local government, the UNDP coordinator Mr Afeez Adesanya said the training programme will not only help the youth, it will also help adults who are desirous of seeking greener pastures to take an alternative in skills acquisition which will make them to become self employed and economically buoyant.
Participants would be empowered by the organisation with various start up tools at the end of the training.
