PFI trains over 100 youths on skills acquisition in Oshodi

As part of its objectives to empowering the youths on various skills acquisition and other empowerment programmes, the People First Initiative (PFI) has trained over 100 youths in Oshodi on different skills.

The empowerment training programme which was done in conjunction with the UNDP office of the Oshodi-Isolo local government was held for two weeks on different vocations.

The youths from different strata of the communities were trained on various skills such as bag making, house painting and photography.

The elated youths at the end of the training thanked the PFI and Oshodi-Isolo local government for the well thought and successful implementation skills acquisition training programme saying they have been well equiped through the training to make them earn a living.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the two weeks long training on Friday at the local government secretariat, the executive director of PFI, Mr Amidu Arije said the organisation is delighted for the success of the training programme.

He thanked the Oshodi-Isolo local government for believing in the organisation in impacting positively in the youths through such skills acquisition training.

Also speaking, Coordinator of the UNDP office, Hon Afeez Adesanya thanked the PFI for the partnership and said he hope for more robust engagement with the organisation in future.

He advised the youths to use the knowledge they acquired to their advantage.

One of the participants in the photography session, Dope Uzziah glowingly thanked the PFI and Oshodi-Isolo local government for the de opportunity to learn new vocational skills.

He said; “I am delighted and thankful to God for making me participate in this training programme, I have really learnt a lot from this training programme, I have been equipped with skills on photography. I will start practicing photography to earn a living because I now have the required expertise in the field.
Thanks to PFI and Oshodi-Isolo local government for this life transforming training, God bless you all.”

The PFI executive Director announced scholarship opportunities for participants who which to further their training on their various skills.
