Following request by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deploy Nigerian troops to Benin Republic to restore peace, order, and stability following a failed coup attempt, the Senate on Tuesday approved the president’s request.
The resolution followed the Senate’s consideration of the President’s request in the Committee of the Whole during plenary.
Recall that the President had initially deployed members of the Nigerian Armed Forces on Sunday to assist in restoring democracy after a group of soldiers attempted a coup.
