As the world marks the year 2024 clean up day, the community development committee of Oshodi-Isolo local government has lamented the continued dereliction of duties by operators of the PSP operators in collection of waste in Mafoluku area Oshodi.
Speaking during a sensitisation programme of the Lagos State government on world clean up day in Oshodi on Thursday, the CDC chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Ajibulu said the PSP operator assigned to collecting wastes in Mafoluku area has not been performing to expectations saying the agreed terms of operation is once a week but he said to their dismay, the operator only comes once a month to collect their wastes.
This, Ajibulu said accounts for huge uncollected wastes dump in front of houses and around market areas in Mafoluku.
The community leader appealed to the Lagos State government through the ministry of environment and water resources to look into the issue and resolve it as soon as possible to avoid outbreak of diseases in the area.
Responding to the complains of the community leader, special adviser to the Lagos State governor on Environment and Water Resources, Mr Kunle Rotimi-Akodu assured of amicable solution to the impasse.
Rotimi-Akodu who said the state government will do everything possible to ensure operators assigned to the areas perform as expected urged the residents to also ensure they clean their environment at all times to avoid the outbreak of diseases.
